α-Endorphin is an endogenous endorphin produced by enzymatic digestion of the POMC (POMC, Proopiomelanocortin) precursor protein in the anterior pituitary gland. It is mainly found in the central nervous system and pituitary gland. It is one of the strongest analgesics in the endorphins family and binds to μ-, kappa-, and δ-opioid receptors to exert analgesic effects. In addition, α-endorphins also have anti-inflammatory, anti-stress and mood-regulating effects, which can improve the body's endurance and immune function.
