Melanostatin DM, a polypeptide ingredient in cosmetics, is also known as the whitening hexapeptide. Its main mechanism of action is achieved by inhibiting the activity of α-melanocyte stimulating hormone (α-MSH). α-MSH is a hormone naturally present in human skin that can stimulate melanocytes to produce more melanin, causing the skin to darken or develop spots. Therefore, by inhibiting the activity of α-MSH, Melanostatin DM can effectively reduce the production of melanin, help the skin restore an even skin tone, and achieve a whitening effect.
