V5 is a 14-amino acid polypeptide isolated from the P protein and V protein of apevirus 5 (SV5).

V5 Epitope Tag Peptide Trifluoroacetate is a tag peptide derived from a small epitope present on the P and V proteins of the paramyxovirus of simian virus 5.

The identified V5 epitope is the sequence 95GKPIPNPLLGLDST108 in the RNA polymerase α subunit of simian parainfluenza virus type 5 (Southernet al., 1991).

A V5 epitope containing 14 amino acids is inserted into the C-terminus of the capsid protein (before the ORF2 stop codon), thus constructing a recombinant-labeled virus. V5 epitope is displayed on the surface of capsid proteins. In vitro and in mice, recombinant-labeled viruses have similar activity to parental viruses and can be distinguished by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and serological methods.

The V5/His-epitope tag is added to the amino terminus of each coding sequence to distinguish between plasmid-encoded protein and endogenous LRRK2. After transient transfection of COS7 cells with plasmids, cell lysates were analyzed with V5 epitope tag or LRRK24-specific antibodies by SDS-PAGE and Western blotting.
